PT Tip of the Week: Posture

We’ve all been told to “sit up straight,” but the truth is there is no perfect posture. What matters most is variety. Staying in one position—whether hunched over a computer or standing at a counter—causes muscles and joints to fatigue. Over time, this leads to stiffness, pain, and tension headaches. Instead of striving for flawless posture, think of your “next posture” as your best posture. A simple strategy: set a timer every 30–60 minutes to stand, stretch, or change position. Small resets like shoulder rolls, standing breaks, or walking to refill your water help more than rigidly forcing yourself upright. Movement breaks not only reduce discomfort but also improve focus and productivity.

Are you getting headaches, neck pain, back pain, hip stiffness? It could be due to your workplace set up. Schedule an ergonomic evaluation and let's see how we can make your days more pain free and more productive!
